General Guidelines for Steel Building Erection
Our erection methodology is rooted in international best practices and tailored for Indian site conditions. The step-by-step process ensures proper alignment, safety, and accuracy at every stage.
- Start by erecting columns and connecting purlins (if applicable), followed by bracing.
- Once columns are set, rafters are installed after aligning and securing the frame.
- Begin with the braced bay, progressing frame by frame, guided by truck crane movement (as per construction drawings).
- Temporary bracing is essential throughout the erection process to maintain alignment.
- Purlins and bracing cables are used to locate and interconnect rafter frames.
- Roof and wall cladding is installed after verifying purlin alignment and cleaning steel components.
- Scratch marks or abrasions on painted surfaces are touched up with matching industrial coatings.
- During roof work, personnel are instructed to walk only on the bottom corrugation to prevent panel deformation or leakage.
- Avoid walking on translucent/bright panels to maintain safety and material integrity.
- Chalk lines and string guides are used to ensure accurate panel alignment and finish.

Step-by-Step Erection Process
Columns, Beams, RaftersPre-Erection Preparation
Inspection and verification of erection equipment, materials, and manpower — ensuring all safety, quality, and quantity standards are met before starting.
Column Erection
Positioning and anchoring of primary steel columns on the foundation, combining them with bracing elements.
Rafter Installation
Cranes are used to lift and secure rafter beams to the column tops, forming the skeletal structure of the PEB frame.
Purlin and Bracing Installation
Cold-formed purlins and bracing elements are fitted between rafters, stabilizing the structure and supporting roof panels.
Calibration of First Frame
The first portal frame is precisely calibrated using laser levels and alignment tools to ensure accuracy for subsequent frames.
Sequential Frame Erection
Frame installation continues bay-by-bay, moving from the braced bay outward.
Final Frame Assembly
The remaining frames are installed, completing the steel framework of the building.
Monitor Installation (if applicable)
Roof monitors or ridge ventilators are erected at designated points as per design.
Final Inspection Pre-Covering
A thorough check of alignment, bolts, bracing, and member fit-up is carried out before the sheeting begins.
Roofing, Wall Cladding & Finishing
Installation of roof and wall panels, flashing, trims, and accessories to complete the external envelope of the building.
